Dear Visitor,

Welcome to Disability FEAST! The folks at the World Institute on Disability (WID) work to fully integrate people with disabilities into the communities around them in all different ways. WID’s NEW DOOR project, the parent project of Disability FEAST, focuses on doing this through nutritious food and accessible fitness.

We hope you enjoy the fruits of Disability FEAST. We’ve designed it to meet a range of different needs.

For example, are you:

  • An individual with a disability?
  • A service provider or peer group member who would like to improve the health and nutrition of your disabled community or senior community?
  • A family member or friend who is concerned about the health and nutrition of a loved one?
  • Just curious about good food, access, or a combination of the two?

If you answered, “Yes!” to any of those questions, good! Then, this program is designed for you. We want to make it easier to you to make healthy food and healthy choices.

To read more about this project, select “Foreword,” “Preface,” or “Introduction” from the “Home” drop-down menu at the top of the page. Alternately, jump right to “Recipes” or “Tip Sheets” to get started shopping and cooking!

In the meantime, go ahead! Take a place at our table and get ready for some friendly support and delicious food.

Sincerely,
The WID Team

    • Thanks for the message, Terry. We’re so happy to hear that you appreciate the website and are practicing proper nutrition in your own life (we too think it’s a great tool for any kind of health battle).

If you have additional feedback for us, feel free to reach out again. Sending you best wishes.

  2. I appreciate this. I blog about the intersection between disability and temperament (Four Temperaments, Five Temperaments, MBTI, KTS, JCF, DiSC, and Ten Terrains have been covered so far by me.). Temperament can affect the way you view food as well. As a choleric-sanguine ENTP autistic with many (and I mean MANY) food aversions, I don’t really care about the definition of a “proper meal”. I just eat whatever so I can get a full range of nutrients. I also eat for pleasure and prepare food.
